The African Youth Initiative Network (AYINET) is a Non-Governmental Organization based in Lira, Northern Uganda. Since establishment in 2005, AYINET has among others provided physical and psychosocial rehabilitation to tens of thousands of victims of War between Government of Uganda and Lord Resistance Army (LRA) in the Greater North.

AYINET has secured a three (3) year grant from Democratic Governance Facilities (DGF), with aims of empowering war victims and post-conflict communities to participate in meaningful Transitional Justice processes in Uganda. The programme of Rehabilitating Communities and Victims for Effective Recovery (RECOVER) will be implemented in the regions of Teso, Lango, Acholi and West Nile. The project will seek to:

  • Enhance physical and emotional healing of war victims in greater northern Uganda.
  • Promote meaningful community’s participation in Transitional Justice processes
  • Mobilise and engage youths who are at risk as leaders and game changers
  • Promote Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and Recovery (Gender- POWER)

AYINET is recruiting staffs for the following positions;

Clinical Officer (1 position)

Clinical officer will design a strategic community activity work plan for implementing the medical and psychosocial rehabilitation project funded by DGF. She/he will identify and assess post-conflict victims who sustained physical injuries for rehabilitation and surgical treatment.

Qualifications:

a) The applicant should preferably hold a Diploma in clinical medicine and community health or Diploma in Orthopedic surgery from a recognized Institution.

b) Applicants must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals’ council.

c) The applicant should preferably have 2 years experience in clinical practice.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct health sensitization, mobilization, and assessments of beneficiaries to the project to access a free medical service.

• Ensure that the designs and health strategies being implemented by AYINET Uganda are in line with the Uganda Allied Health Professionals’ council standards.

• Monitor programme progress which will involve following up of the patients in their communities that had surgical treatment.

• Initiate and participate in health District Advocacy initiatives and stakeholder awareness about the ongoing project.

• Ensure that project activities are integrated with other sectors in partner Districts.

• Compile and submit periodic reports with participation in annual progress and activity reports of the project.

• Participate in activity work planning, budgeting, managing and accounting for allocated resources.

• Adhere to the Professional Codes of Conduct and Ethics.

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

• Should have management, counseling, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of any of the local languages spoken in West Nile Sub- Region, Lango, Acholi, and Teso is an added advantage.

I.T Specialist (1)

Information Technology Services performs a critical role in supporting and managing the Organization’s computers systems, equipment and providing support services. The IT Specialist role is responsible for supporting all aspects of the IT systems and services. Additionally, the role includes responsibility for ensuring the security and integrity of computer operations and systems development in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan & IT policy.

Qualifications:

a) Relevant IT degree or industry experience.

b) Knowledge and experience in Adobe Creative Suite applications

c) Knowledge and experience in Content Management Systems

d)  Demonstrated understanding of IT Management.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Provide first point of IT Support contact for all AYINET staff.

• Manage and update website on a regular basis.

• Design appropriate advocacy materials to be used online and in print.

•  Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications.

•  Ensure system and data security is maintained at a high standard, ensuring the integrity of AYINET network is not compromised.

• Expedite the repair of hardware faults and software configuration problems, notifying or forwarding to relevant suppliers in a timely manner.

•  Provide technical assistance to project teams and undertake technical project roles when required; supporting the roll-out of new applications and solutions.

• Demonstrate commitment to and promotion of a culture of service excellence and continual improvement within the IT team.

Successful applicants will be expected to start the job with immediate effect from June 2018. The duty station will be at AYINET’s headquarters in Lira, with frequent travels across the project regions.

Management

Gender Coordinator (1) position: CLOSED

The officer will be responsible to coordinate implementation of GENDER-POWER (Promote Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment and Recovery) campaign in relation to ensure Transitional Justice is Gender inclusive. The officer will work across all the four regions., and expected to coordinate work with district local governments, faith and cultural institutions, NGOs and all related stakeholders.

Qualifications: The position is to be occupied by the person with:

  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Social works and Social Administration, Gender Studies or any related field of study.
  • Good communication skills and better understanding of local community.
  • Skillful in writing and reporting for the activities performed and also able to meet the deadline.
  • Basic computer knowledge a must

Psychotherapist/ Counsellor (1) position: CLOSED

 The officer will be working with colleagues across the 4 regions, engaging in providing counselling/trauma care, conducting community and family psychosocial support.

Qualifications: The position is to be occupied by the person with:

  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Community Psychology or any related discipline
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic skills of computer a must
  • Should have the experience/skills of working as a counsellor for at least two (3) years in the private or public institution.

Youth Officers (2) positions: CLOSED

The officers will be working across the 4 regions and coordinate the project that will mobilise and engage youth at risks as leaders and game changers.

Qualifications: The position is to be occupied by the person with:

  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or any other related fields
  • Better understanding and innovative as it will involve working with the youth for at least (3) years
  • Good communication skills, and better knowledge of the use of social media will be added advantage
  • Basic skills of computer

M & E Assistant (1) position: CLOSED

 The officer will be working across all the 4 regions, doing all the project monitoring and documentations.

Qualifications: The position is to be occupied by the person with:

  • Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Statistics, Certificate in M&E or any other related field
  • Experience of working as a M & E officer for at least (2) years, although newly qualified are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Basic skills of computer applications and able to write reports on his/her work effectively

Driver (1) position CLOSED

Qualifications: The position is to be occupied by the person with:

  • A minimum of senior four (S.4) certificate
  • Driver’s valid license ‘Class DM’
  • Good communication and inter personal relationship
