A sharing and Interactive Platform at AYINET to make the Global Goals a reality

We are all about making the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a reality in Africa and all over the world. Everyone has a role in the attainment of the SDGs and at AYINET,  “House of Goals“, we create a platform to share experiences, events, and approaches to rise up to the “Ambitious” Sustainable Development Goals framework. The SDGs or Global Goals which consist of 17 Goals are a new, universal set of goals, targets and indicators that UN member states are expected to use to guide their agendas, policies and funding over the next 15 years.

AYINET works with victims’ communities in post conflict regions. We provide Medical and Psychosocial support to victims and survivors’ of war while advancing  youth leadership and participation  to promote sustainable, peaceful and inclusive societies with good governance. These interventions under Victor OCHEN’s leadership, with much honour and gratitude, catapulted us to a joint nobel peace prize nomination in 2015 by the American Friends and Service Committee.

We are well placed, as a community grassroots Organisation,  to support and promote the ambitious peace and Justice Goal and joining together with the rest of the world, make all the Global Goals a reality.

The SDGs have been welcomed universally but not without hesitation from some fractions; One of the earliest criticisms was about the big number of Goals under SDGs (17) in comparison to the eight (8) Millennium Development Goals, claiming it would spread efforts in their attainment so thin and possibly impact on the ability to achieve the Goals. Other challenges highlighted with the 2030 Agenda have revolved around the financing and effective engagement of all sectors of society in achieving the Global Goals.

On the brighter side however, there is a general consensus that it is better to have all the 17 goals that include core development indicators like women empowerment, good governance, and peace and Justice rather than a few that don’t address these issues. There is progress on the global goals’ journey with a landmark agreement by all countries in dealing with climate change at the recently concluded 2015 Paris Climate Conference. This gives much optimism and faith in ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality & injustice, and reversing climate change.

We therefore create partnerships at all levels with entities and individuals that are making a significant contribution to their communities by way of engagements and activities that promote better livelihoods and environments. One approach is through weekly exchange programs, where we share and learn from each other youth friendly ways of making positive impacts in our communities with emphasis on vulnerable populations. Please kindly send us email by clicking here for further enquiries on being a part of this program. We look forward to hearing from you.
